Setting High Standards
May 2011 Eletter
Are you ready to move past the ordinary and set standards and expectations you wish to aspire to? Settings standards for yourself and sticking to them will ultimately give you a powerful sense of satisfaction and fulfillment. Setting high standards means:
Recognizing that a life of mediocrity is one you refuse to be part of.
Having bold ambitions.
Setting guidelines for what you envision for yourself
Getting help setting and reaching your guidelines.
Setting a certain level of expectation for yourself or asking for help setting them.
Learning how to reach your desired expectations – knowing the steps to take and getting help when necessary to determine the best approach.
Being flexible enough to modify certain expectations to achieve the life you envision for yourself.
For many, 'setting high standards' can be perceived only in terms of dollars and cents and striving for more economic stability. However, high standards in every aspect of life, physically, emotionally, spiritually, and economically creates a more well rounded you. What standards have you set for yourself in each of these areas?
Here are some ways to help you set higher standards:
Challenge the way you think - Your beliefs determine your thoughts and how you perceive the world around you. Your beliefs can keep you locked into an ordinary way of life.
Acquire knowledge - Without new input, new experiences or education it will be difficult to recognize your present current state. It is this exposure to new information that allows one the ability to recognize the need for movement and improvement in their life.
Evaluate your associations - If you associate with negative, pessimistic, critical folks, they are only happy to have people with whom to commiserate. If you associate with positive, motivated, ambitious, supportive people, they will only encourage you to a higher level.
Let go of fear. No matter how much you dream - no matter how much you aspire to - no matter how hard you work, if you allow fear to run the show, you will hardly be able to achieve those standards you envision for your life.
Are you ready to move past the status quo and set standards that can help you evolve to that next level?
To Your Success :)
